Counterstories of Immigration: Positioning Documentaries as Vehicles for Developing Preservice Teachers' Analytic Skills

Abstract

In this study, preservice teachers viewed clips from three documentary films that presented counterstories of individuals and groups who have navigated the US immigration process. Our focus was on how preservice teachers analyzed the three films, specifically their corroboration and source analysis skills, and their use of perspective recognition.
