Thu, April 8, 1:00 to 2:00pm EDT (1:00 to 2:00pm EDT), Division J, Division J - Section 6 Poster Sessions

Abstract

Fourteen bibliometric research studies were published between 1979 - 2014 on articles published in student affairs journals. This study used data science tools to complete article-level analyses on subject area patterns of research topics, research impacts, and sources and predictors of online attention. The data source was articles published in the Journal of College Student Development (JCSD) between 2003-2019 (N=322). ‘Sociology’ and by ‘Specialist Studies in Education’ generated the largest research impact and three articles represented 40% of the research impact of all 322 articles. Multiple regression analyses investigated relationships between 15 online sources and attention scores for individual research articles. Seven predictors accounted for 99% of the variance in online sources and attention scores for JCSD articles.
