The Evolution of New York State Algebra Standards Through Exams: 2002 to 2020

Fri, April 9, 9:30 to 10:30am EDT (9:30 to 10:30am EDT), Division H, Division H - Section 3 Poster Sessions

Abstract

The State of New York has experienced three major changes in state algebra standards and assessments since 2002: Math A (or the old standards), Integrated Algebra (or the recent standards), and Common Core Algebra I (or the current standards). These different sets of standards included different topic areas on each version of the exam. By labelling all items from all exams by the recent and current standards, results indicated areas of standards overlap in topic areas which increases the number of standardized testing items that can be utilized for instruction for Common Core Algebra I instructional practices.
