Rapid geopolitical and geosocial changes transform international students’ mobility patterns, at the same time posing certain methodological challenges for researchers when approaching and investigating this cohort in the Higher Education context. Yet, most of the existing literature focuses on using ‘traditional’ research methods such as interviews and surveys. It is necessary and timely to think critically and creatively about the suitable methodological approaches to research and understand students with their learning experience. This paper aims to propose the employment of creative approaches – audio diary and art-based research method to research international students’ lives and everyday learning experiences in the HE context.
