This study examined how Men of Color (MoC) programs that serve the educational needs of Latinx male students shape the organizational identity of Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs). By employing a case study design, this study used one-on-one interviews, institutional-level data from IPEDS, and an institutional questionnaire to yield the following preliminary findings: (a) institutional leaders struggle with tensions about serving “all students” versus minoritized students; and (b) while some institutions are quick to commit to equity efforts, they lack faculty who are representative of their student populations. By using multiple sources of evidence, this research is one of the few to explore how MSIs prioritize resources, particularly MoC programs, to narrow the educational achievement gap for Latinx men.
