This study investigates the volunteering experience of immigrant youth aged 18-30 in Canada as a form of civic engagement and participation. The study adopts a mixed method approach, drawing on questionnaires, interviews, and focus groups. Our findings reveal that immigrant youth are active citizens who participate actively in community life as volunteers. Through volunteering, they contribute their time, knowledge, skills and commitment to their local communities. Volunteering has become an important stepping stone for the integration of immigrant youth into Canadian society. Consistent with other findings, this study demonstrates that volunteering is a powerful source of informal learning. The findings have significant implications for policy and practice in developing new initiatives and capacities in enhancing immigrant youth volunteering.
