Modern School and Ferrer i Guardia Contributions to Social and Educational Movements of Today

• In Event: Historical Contexts of Educator Activism and Educational Development

Abstract

The paper aims to provide knowledge on three of the contributions of the educational project of the Modern School and his creator Ferrer i Guardia that have been the antecedents of other projects as well as social and educational movements throughout history to the present in very different countries. These contributions are (1) prioritizing access to scientific knowledge for all people, (2) gender co-education and support for feminism, and (3) class co-education promoting friendship and solidarity.
