This conceptual paper builds a case for centering health equity in Resident-as-Teacher (RasT) training. We argue that by applying a health equity lens to RasT training, resident teachers can develop the knowledge and skills necessary to foster equitable learning environments and develop health equity leaders. To build the argument, adapt an established framework to conceptualize health equity literacy. Throughout, we work to reimagine RasT training as an educational tool foster to equitable educational environments while simultaneously developing the next generation of anti-racist and anti-oppressive health equity leaders. We contend that this transformative approach is one of the many strategies needed to prepare physicians to disrupt health inequities and improve patient care.
