Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) literacy is widely recognized as a new set of digital competencies that people need to know and use AI ethically in everyday life. K-12 educators have started to employ pedagogical strategies to foster students’ AI literacy. Using digital story writing (DSW) in the classroom is an effective pedagogical approach to address literacy development by improving language and digital competencies across disciplines. This study recruited 82 primary students in Hong Kong to attend a three-month DSW journey to learn AI. We employed qualitative methods to analyse the digital artifacts of the students via interviews. Findings indicated that using digital story writing as a pedagogy has the potential to foster students’ AI literacy.
