Sun, April 24, 9:45 to 11:15am PDT (9:45 to 11:15am PDT), World Educational Research Association Virtual Meeting Rooms, WERA Virtual Meeting Room 1

Abstract

Members of the WERA IRN on Teaching, Learning & Literacy for Health are working with UNICEF, UNESCO and partners to conduct a Fact-Finding Survey and Policy/Curriculum Analysis in 2021 with reports due in early 2022. The study is approaching all countries and states/provinces and is investigating health and life skills (H&LS) education within a comprehensive, systems approach to promoting inclusion and equity with particular attention to health, development and nutrition. The study will look at inter-ministry coordination through policy/program frameworks addressing different forms of exclusion such as disabilities, discrimination, health risks and student drop-out/push-out. This session will discuss if existing H&LS education programs support a whole child approach that ensures a broad range of learning opportunities.
