Abstract

The field of counseling for people with various disabilities in the context of participation counseling processes is currently undergoing a process of specification and professionalization towards inclusion.
Identifying elements of qualified counseling for people with disabilities, all German Supplementary Independent Participation Counseling Centers in region of Hessen as well as the coordination, contact and counseling centers in the Rhineland were surveyed with regard to basics, procedures, conceptual focuses and further training needs. First insights into selected fields of practice of participation counseling indicate that an inconsistent framing can be identified here. An overarching, comparable content orientation still seems to be unclear and further development potential can be identified here. A promising perspective is seen in the approach of rehistoricizing counseling.
