Session Type: Workshop
Educational research across professions plays a key role in identifying and illuminating ways that systems of inequity and oppression impact minoritized groups. Inevitably, education researchers may be involved in upholding or dismantling these systems. This workshop situates current education research methods and how they reflect issues of power, epistemology and culture from shared history. It addresses research methods and engagement processes that strengthen minoritized voices. Participants will engage in small and large group discussions to reflect upon their research practices in relation to DEIJ, collectively identifying changes in their research approaches that enhance the DEIJ sensitivity of their research in their own contexts. Working across professions enables us to learn from various approaches to framing research as social justice.
