Session Type: Symposium
Open science is an umbrella term that refers to behaviors such as pre-registration, open access publishing or preprints, sharing materials and data, and replication. These behaviors often seek to better align research behaviors with the research values of openness, transparency, rigor, reproducibility, replicability, and accumulation of knowledge. This session aims to help researchers, data analysts, students, and educators navigate their work from an open science lens. A panel of experts will define relevant terms, share their experiences, share challenges and barriers to using open science, and provide useful tips on how to navigate the academic research culture. Panelist perspectives include: research design & analysis, research write-up and article submission; educator, article reviewer, and journal editor.
