Session Type: Symposium
This symposium will gather researchers to discuss innovative technology-related practices that have the potential to fundamentally change PK-12 schooling. Research findings highlighted in the symposium include: an overview of the landscape of innovation, specific technology supported innovations, Research Practice Industry Partnerships, and a framework for evaluating student centered practices. Each of these examples leverage digital technology to bridge the gap between school based standards and student driven interests (Halverson et al., 2018). When technology is used in ways that critically redistribute instructional decision making and learning tasks, it can help to redefine the relational power in classrooms (Penuel & DiGiacomo, 2018). Presenters will detail the ways in which these technological innovations can improve equity in PK-12 schooling.
