Session Type: Symposium
To create more equitable educational systems for the 21st century, this session highlights research in communities with youth, families, and educators grappling with dual pandemics (Ladson-Billings, 2021): COVID-19 and moments of racial upheaval. This session will focus on the experiences of youth, families, and teachers of color navigating learning, living, and teaching during these complex times. Panelists will demonstrate how educational stakeholders resisted, disrupted, and reimagined space, place, and time within various educational contexts throughout COVID-19 and moments of racial upheaval that overlapped. This session (re)imagines a future in education where justice and equity are woven into the equitable educational systems for the 21st century and beyond by drawing on the knowledge of minoritized K-12 stakeholders.
