Session Type: Symposium
The purpose of this session is to reimagine how women of color (WOC) educators can share their narratives as a process of recognizing “spirit injury” and discovering profound spirit healing and sense of community in academia. Our interwoven voices of intersectionality, shared together, showcase Midwest marginalized experiences of WOC in academia. We purpose new visions and new possibilities and draw on our individual experiences and collective voices as WOC in academia that is crucial to our development, humanity and brilliance as educators. We use an interactive panel format as a way of sharing and encouraging audience involvement to ask questions, connect to our voices, and Dr. Adrien Wing’s concepts of spirit injury and spirit healing.
