This panel examines the ways in which the community college sector influences the postsecondary pathways of Latina/o/x students pursuing a STEM degree. Using asset-based perspectives, the presentations discuss the ways in which community colleges can foster pathways to earning a STEM degree for Latina/o/x students through dual-credit courses, scholarship opportunities, faculty mentoring, and counterspaces. The presenters will engage with the audience to connect research findings with various practices and policies that can foster a sense of belonging for Latina/o/x students in STEM who continue to navigate and resist institutional inequities.
