Networking and Building Communities of Support to Sustain Ourselves as Social Justice Workers

Abstract

The Division A EIA Committee has convened a panel of colleagues to help us think about how to sustain and thrive instead. We will explore topics such as sustaining rather than extractive work with communities, mindfulness as a social justice scholar and leader, interdependence as a source of strength, and affirmation of one’s identity. Taken together, these threads provide early career scholars with mentoring lessons not necessarily covered by the technicalities of publishing, promotion, and tenure, but just as necessary to thrive in this challenging and vital work.
