Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
Recent legislation across the U.S. has attempted to ban Critical Race Theory in K-12 schools as a tactic to undermine justice-centered movements and educational efforts that confront oppressive systems and structures stemming from the forces of settler-colonialism, white supremacy, capitalism, and patriarchy. This session creates a space for leading critical scholars to engage decolonial and anti-racist analyses on the current impacts that such legislation has on pedagogy, curriculum, and teacher education. The panelists will discuss ways in which critical theories in education can sustain hope, coalition-building, and liberatory praxis in teaching and teacher education.
