Division D Fireside Chat: Pursuing Educational Research in Nonacademic Professional Career Path

Abstract

The Division D Fireside Chat in past years has focused on quantitative and qualitative research and methodology, mainly for academia. This year, we will focus on the pursuit of educational research in a non-academic professional career. Graduate students struggle with thousands of queries due to the lack of access to information. With the target audience being graduate students within and beyond Division D at AERA, we want to organize a fireside chat with the invited panelists to share their extensive experience in non-academic research areas. The topics include the scopes, preparation, practices, and significance of pursuing a research career in non-academic arenas or continuing research while being in a full-time non-academic profession for the professional development of the graduate students.
