Education in Ireland is undergoing transformation to build a more equitable system for young people in higher education, further and vocational education, and in schools. This is being achieved by widening access and participation and by employing more inclusive approaches to teaching and learning. These papers highlight how current innovations are developing more equitable access to university education, a more equitable educational system, and transformation of the student learning experience. Through a historical lens, they set out, from an equity perspective, key milestones in the evolution of education and skills policy for vocational learners. They explore issues of equity, religion and beliefs in schools in Ireland, North and South, as teachers interpret and deliver multi-faith education in increasingly diverse settings.
