Impacts of COVID-19 on the Delivery of Health Professions Training Programs: A Narrative Literature Review

Abstract

What are the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic on the delivery of health professions training programs? Healthcare education and delivery settings rapidly adapted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper introduces currently available literature, describe the methodological approach to the literature search, and provide an overview of the studies included. The results of this paper articulate how interprofessional education and collaborative practice occurred in health professions education (HPE) and clinical care pandemic responses. The analysis addresses the extent of current findings and summarizes substantive and emergent themes. The discussion and conclusion provide recommendations and implications for HPE and collaborative clinical practice in the future.
