Thu, April 21, 4:15 to 5:45pm PDT (4:15 to 5:45pm PDT), San Diego Convention Center, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

With funding from the National Institute of Justice, the American Institutes for Research (AIR), in partnership with Boston Public Schools and Suffolk University Center for Restorative Justice, is evaluating the Circle Forward (CF) restorative practices model. The impact evaluation, which uses a randomized trial design, examines CF’s effects on student outcomes and disciplinary responses. The process evaluation examines supports and barriers to successful implementation.
Preliminary process evaluation findings show that CF was implemented with fidelity. Most implementation survey respondents reported a high level of fidelity of circle setup and following of circle norms. Survey respondents also reported that CF helped increase student voice. In the presentation, we will include findings on the causal effects of the CF model.
