Fri, April 22, 8:00 to 9:30am PDT (8:00 to 9:30am PDT), SIG Virtual Rooms, SIG-Special and Inclusive Education Research Virtual Paper Session Room

Abstract

Research on co-teaching related to teacher readiness, perceptions, and understandings is lacking. Two cases were the primary sources of data, with triangulation using district-wide surveys and artifact reviews. The researcher built this study grounded in social-cultural theory and community of practice.

“Cultivating Equitable Education Systems for the 21st Century” is at the heart of inclusive programs. To have equitable education systems, students of all abilities, races, genders, and backgrounds need opportunities that foster working together. Efforts to include students, who are marginalized due to disability, touches on the need for equitable educational opportunities for all students. Five recommendations were generated from participants that targeted shortcomings identified in their co-teaching program.
