Abstract

This proposal focuses on utilizing university-community partnerships as a way to address societal problems. The societal problems focused in this proposal include: (1) improving the public good universities bring to societies; (2) rectifying economic inequality in America; and (3) developing college students to have the work-related skills to be successful in the twenty-first century. Essentially, this hybrid approach fills a necessary gap in the university-community partnership and future of work scholarly literature. In short, the researchers believe that modern American universities with strong community partnerships can cultivate an equitable society, university, and education for students to cultivate the necessary future of work skills (Cole, 2009, 2016; Giamatti, 1988; Levin, 2003, 2013; Lumina Foundation, 2020; Thorp & Goldstein, 2010, 2018).
