Research-Informed Technology Development for Student Active Learning in Teacher Education

Abstract

The development of technology to support learning and teaching in higher education calls for a critical investigation of how research inform the development process of such tools to close the gap between intention and implementation. By following a team of software developers, teacher educators and educational researchers, this study illuminate how research-based knowledge about barriers to student active learning is used in the development process of digital tools for teacher education. To ensure alignment between technology and student active teaching practice research use is key in order to provide teacher educators and teacher students with technological solutions that enhances student active learning.
