(Re)Visioning (Re)Entry Programs Within California Community Colleges

Fri, April 22, 2:30 to 4:00pm PDT (2:30 to 4:00pm PDT), San Diego Convention Center, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

In our study, we analyzed reentry programs and support services for systems-impacted students within the California Community College (CCC) system. Our motivation for this research derives from a culmination of our positions and experiences as a Faculty, Administrative and Classified member within the CCC. We have witnessed the discrepancies among experiences of systems-impacted students at various CCCs.

We have not experienced the injustices of the systems but are committed to serving students who do not have the same privileges or resources. Equally important to us as underrepresented marginalized individuals, is the collective need to provide equitable access through educational pathways while serving systems-impacted students in a more humanistic, student-centered manner.
