Session Type: Symposium
International research about the health and well-being of young adolescents has received heightened attention by teachers, administrators, policymakers, and researchers who recognize that students’ health and social-emotional well-being directly impacts their academic progress. Nevertheless, teachers and school leaders have had insufficient access to research or evidence-based resources that focus explicitly on young adolescents’ health and well-being in ways that support those working with this age group. The purpose of this symposium is to describe and explain the research in an effort to successfully develop an understanding of the health and well-being aspects of young adolescent learners and provide teachers, school leaders, and teacher candidates with the necessary information and tools to address the health and well-being needs of young adolescent learners.
