Session Type: Symposium
How can districts use a racial equity lens to provide post-pandemic learning that focuses on acceleration rather than remediation? This symposium brings together researchers and practitioners to share their learning on using a systems approach to advance racial equity during COVID recovery. Researchers will present a conceptual framework focused on district domains for improving racial equity, including allocating resources equitably, providing access to deeper learning, and supporting social-emotional learning. A leadership development practitioner will share a theoretically-driven curriculum for transformational district leadership. The symposium will also feature superintendents from two school districts in the southeastern US who are using this conceptual framework and leadership curriculum to develop strategies for equitably supporting student learning in a post-pandemic world.
