Abstract

This paper examines the methodological and pedagogical implications of engaging in Arts-Based Educational Research (ABER) practices as a form of preparing and mentoring early career researchers (ECRs). Specifically, in this paper, we take up photography as a significant dimension of visual qualitative research methods. In this paper, we focus on sites and place as the basis for our inquiry. We do this by examining a Story of place. We examine and discuss how photographs of place, site, as well as the photographic mapping of spaces and contexts reveal stories and dimensions that can be uncovered through employing a reflexivity of place. We examine the methodological and pedagogical implications of using photographic arts as ways of seeing and knowing.
