The Demands of Equity-Centered Principal Pipelines and the Role for Research-Practice Partnerships

Abstract

This article explores how RPPs can support school districts to pursue locally driven, collaborative, and iterative pipeline reforms to achieve equity goals. We conducted a systematic review of literature on principal pipelines and research-practice partnerships from the past decade. In our analysis of the literature, we identified four critical needs that will likely emerge in equity-centered principal pipeline reforms. We then describe the ways in which RPPs can support districts in these areas with illustrative cases and offer cautions about likely challenges.
