Is Teachers' Psychological Well-Being High or Is It in Decline During COVID-19?

Abstract

The aim of the study is to determine teachers' perceptions of psychological wellbeing caused by change during COVID-19. The research was designed in phenomenology approach. Psychological wellbeing theory was the framework guiding this study. It is composed of two dimensions: Eudaimonic and Hedonic wellbeing. Data were collected from 14 teachers; 5 from Turkey, 4 from Germany, and 5 from the USA. Content analysis was used. Teachers stated; they tried to improve the conditions of themselves and their students. It has been observed that the uncertainty experienced during the pandemic has negative impacts on teachers' psychological wellbeing.
