Since first contact, our ancestors were fighting for our survival. Today, instead of weapons, our leaders do battle in classrooms, at conferences, and in political arenas. Dr. Tiffany Lee (Diné/Lakota) is the chair and a professor in Native American Studies at the University of New Mexico (UNM). Dr. Patricia D. Quijada Cerecer (Xicana/Cupeño) is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Shawn Secatero (Canoncito Band of Navajo) is an Associate Professor in Educational Leadership at UNM. Songtree Pioche (Taos Pueblo/Oglala Lakota) is a Master’s Student in NAS at UNM and the Vice Chair-NM Native American Democratic Caucus. Ashley Miles (Hopi/Santa Ana Pueblo) is a Pre-Med student at the University of Colorado, Denver.
