Abstract

The current study adopted a person-centred approach to explore teachers’ informal workplace learning (IWL) profiles and examined how the contextual factor (i.e., school climate) and personal factor (i.e., teacher enthusiasm) predict teachers’ different IWL profiles. A total of 4,912 Chinese primary school teachers participated in the study. Using latent profile analysis, four distinct profiles of teacher IWL were identified: low IWL, average IWL, high IWL and colleague-interaction-oriented IWL. School climate and teacher enthusiasm had various impact on teacher IWL profiles. These results contribute to a comprehensive conceptualisation of teachers’ IWL activities and generate valuable implications for educators and policy makers to support individualised IWL initiatives.
