Abstract

As the United States continues to face a critical shortage of ethnically and racially diverse educators, exploring Career and Technical Education, Education & Training programs will be essential. In this study, we examine 145 students’ of color (SOCs) motivations and beliefs about the education profession. Specifically, we find that SOCs believe working in education requires high levels of expertise and knowledge, that a majority agree the program has influenced their decision, and that the intrinsic career value of working in education is the most statistically significantly associated factor in their decision.
