A Rasch Analysis of Behavior Assessment System for Children–Third Edition (BASC-3) Flex Progress Monitoring Forms With Preschool Students

Abstract

After the application of an intervention, progress monitoring to measure response is recommended. BASC-3 Flex Progress Monitoring forms are designed to assess social, emotional, and behavioral problems of children The four standard forms consist of Disruptive Behavior, Developmental Social Disorder, Inattention/Hyperactivity, and Internalizing Problem. This study examined the psychometric properties of PM forms with Rasch Analysis. Each form sample comprised 57 to 108 preschool students. One dimension was supported for three of the four forms. Person and separation index values showed adequate separation and a wide range of difficulty values for all items. Relatively few items showed differential item functioning across age or racial groups respectively. The Flex PM forms seem to be functioning acceptably for use in schools.
