Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to question and provide ideas for deepening an understanding of how DSE/DisCrit (Annamma, 2016) informed research along with multimodal and care-based methods (Piepzna-Samarasinha, 2018; Vasudevan et al., 2022) influence educational research design and more specifically how data is analyzed. Our specific focus in this paper is how two researchers incorporated multimodal approaches (Pahl et al., 2022) to data analysis. Together the authors of this proposal reflect on one author’s visual data from their individual larger dissertation studies to share visual and multimodal approaches through how participants make meaning. Our aim is to show the dimensions of care involved in DSE/DisCrit informed multimodal research and how this is taken up in data analysis.
