This study investigates how fourth grade students navigate mutually supportive robotics and mathematics activities in a classroom setting. We consider the role of the robot in supporting computational thinking and problem solving using designed activities for classroom implementation. Results from the video data suggests that (i) curriculum-based approaches for classroom educational robotics activities supported students in learning through a trial-and-error approach, and (ii) navigating the virtual programming interface and physical robotics environments supports problem solving strategies, discussion of new ideas among students, and solution-oriented thought processes. This paper provides a vignette showing how the design of the environment and technologies supported such productive interactions.
