Abstract

In this study, we provide a nuanced description of this phenomenon through the analysis of math learning data from a national sample of K-5 students.

Our work is guided by the following research questions:

1) How do between-school gaps in math learning vary by domain (e.g., algebra, geometry, measurement, numbers & operations)?
2) How have between-school gaps in math learning changed since the COVID-19 pandemic?

By identifying and describing variation in math learning across domains, the findings from this study provide insights to both researchers and practitioners on where additional resources and interventions might be focused across various school settings. These findings are particularly relevant considering learning disruptions created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
