Abstract

In this discussion, we address emerging findings to create a counterbalance to the historically racist legacies of the model minority myth, perpetual foreigner status, and colonialism. Though Asian American leaders lead on fragile ground in America, as a community, we are connected to an ancestral heritage in America of civil rights and social justice activists who embodied ways to solve the societal contradictions rooted in racism and colonialism. This legacy of Asian American leadership and lifting up embodiments of Asian American leaders creates a way to repudiate white supremacy structures and reimagine the relationship between Asian Americans and all communities.
