Abstract

This paper is an investigation of our mentoring relationship in the context of philosophically and theoretically informed qualitative research over the past several years. In this paper, we think with two theoretical concepts: micro ethical events and care as a world making practice. Specifically, we focus on our work as qualitative researchers, professors of qualitative research courses, and advisors to graduate students who are working on qualitative research projects who attempt to pursue justice oriented projects from a variety of theoretical and philosophical standpoints. Our paper includes three important insights for the field of qualitative research related to more than human matters, disruption of the status quo, and political and ethical commitments.
