In this paper, we explored the ways simple and compound interest (SCI) is incorporated into secondary mathematics across all Canada. Comparative document analysis of all ten Canadian provincial curricula revealed a myriad of approaches that propose SCI to be taught from grades 5 to 12 to different profiles of students (academic, non-academic) under multiple mathematics strands: arithmetic (number), algebra (discrete and exponential functions), data and probability, financial literacy, financial mathematics, and finance-specific strands (banking, interest & credit, managing money, etc.). Overall, this inconsistency in integrating SCI in Canada is likely the result of a lack of consensus in mathematics education research regarding financial literacy.
