Black students face educational disparities that result in gross inequities in college access and completion. To address this concern, researchers from an urban university collaborated with local educators to build a collective that elevates the need for equity in our public schools. The Justice Scholars Institute is a research-practice partnership (RPP) that creates equitable forms of engagement. Using qualitative data from two different time points, this study highlights the development of partnership work designed to address the disparities in college access. Findings indicate the importance of centering equity and building trust in relationships committed to transforming education for youth in underserved schools.
