Supporting Self-Regulated Learning in Digital Learning Environments

Thu, April 11, 9:00 to 10:30am, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 100, Room 113A

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

In educational research various approaches have been developed to encourage external regulation during self-regulated learning. Such techniques include different kinds of scaffolds that support students by providing them with structure, support, and guidance during their learning process. The main theme of this symposium is to demonstrate the influence of external interventions on the use of learning strategies, academic achievement, and engagement across various domains. Within this symposium, different methods and techniques that were used to externally support the complex process of self-regulated learning will be reviewed and empirically analyzed. Finally, implications about how external regulation can be used in classrooms and digital learning environments to enhance engagement, performance, and motivation will be discussed.
