The authors use the Black Gaze Framework (BGF) as a response to the call of action to dismantle racial injustice that occurs in today’s classrooms. In this paper, the authors share an overview of each tenet of BGF and provide concrete examples of how each one was used in both of our courses to prepare preservice teachers to teach in ELA classrooms in grades 3 through 12.
