Data Privacy and Data Ethics: Leadership Matters

Abstract

This session will provide attendees with resources to help educators better understand data privacy and data ethics. Based on scenarios that depict authentic situations that educational leaders face, the scenarios are based on data privacy issues that require ethical action steps. Participants will learn how to use the scenarios to build human capacity around data privacy and ethics. They will also learn about data privacy in policy, research, and practice. The scenarios and resources can be used in educator preparation, in-service venues, and for self-education. They are grounded in best practices and privacy regulations.
