A Meta-Analysis Exploring the Relationship Between Motivation and Executive Function (Poster 30)

Abstract

The current meta-analysis quantifies the average correlation between motivation and executive function broadly. Exclusionary coding was conducted on 9226 abstracts from the published and grey literature to yield a representation of the field, yielding a total of 54 articles and n = 297 correlational coefficients. Using robust variance estimation (RVE) to account for clustered correlational coefficients, our analyses indicated that the mean relationship was small but positive and significant at r = .06, p < .001. We have also conducted moderator analyses to examine what accounted for the significant heterogeneity (I^2= 79.61%). Findings will inform theory and build connections between two seemingly distinct bodies of literature.
