This session introduces Collective Autoethnography (CoAE), a participatory research methodology distinct for its co-constructed narratives. We detail a six-phase CoAE approach: preparation, data collection, transcription, interpretation, thematic consensus, and narrative production, highlighting the principles and techniques involved. Using a compassion-centric teaching example during crises, we demonstrate CoAE’s capacity for creating nuanced, multilayered narratives. Emphasizing collaboration, CoAE fosters comprehensive understanding and accurate representation of diverse experiences. This methodology is ideal for examining shared experiences in community settings, making it invaluable for qualitative researchers interested in explorative and collaborative narrative construction. This presentation serves as a guide for researchers seeking to adopt CoAE for in-depth, democratic exploration of collective experiences.
