Abstract

The learning environment can promote the occurrence of learning. In kindergartens, the wall display is endowed with educational expectations. While few studies concerne whether these displays are noticed and understood by children. Therefore, this research investigates how children allocate their attention to various wall displays and the factors influencing their preferences. After surveying 56 young children through the mosaic method, the research found that children are attracted to displays featuring their own artworks, class activity photos, and interactive elements. From children's expressions, factors such as children’s existing experiences, needs for belonging, and influence of significant others played crucial role on children’s attention allocation. This research underscores the importance of considering children's voice and provides recommendations for creating engaging learning environments.
