A Remedy for Research Use: A Scholarly Podcast and an Open Invitation to Practitioners

Abstract

Scholarly podcasts offer an accessible way to publicly disseminate knowledge. The author team's literacy-focused podcast provides a platform for experts to share research and ideas for a practitioner audience, facilitating self-directed professional learning. The team is reorganizing the show’s website to cluster content by topics of interest. We used a thematic analysis to analyze four episodes on climate literacy to understand the nuanced messages and practical takeaways to further professional learning. This work highlights the potential of a scholarly podcasts to translate research topics into actionable practices in the classroom. We aim to discuss the practical implications of analyzing podcasts to guide listeners to specific episode clusters, and to foster critical, self-directed learning.
